Amethyst is a variety of Quartz with a Mohs hardness of approximately 7, making it reasonably durable. The individual points of a natural cluster can, however, be more vulnerable to chips and breakage.
Handle gently and avoid dropping the cluster.
Hold the specimen from its base where possible rather than gripping the individual points.
Dust gently using a soft, dry brush or cloth.
Avoid abrasive cleaning materials.
Avoid harsh chemicals and cleaning products.
Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners.
Avoid prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight, which can affect Amethyst's purple colouring over time.
Display somewhere stable where the cluster won't easily be knocked over.
Keep away from harder crystals or objects that could scratch the crystal points.
