Exploring Crystal Pendulums: Tips from My Journey
Welcome back to our third blog, Sunflowers! 🌻
Today, I want to talk about crystal pendulums and share some tips I've gathered from my own experiences working with them.
I currently have five pendulums and will be adding a sixth when I find the right one. Not long ago, I dreamt about a Fluorite pendulum, so I'm taking that as a sign that that one may be joining the family soon!
These are simply the methods that work best for me. Everyone develops their own relationship and routine with their pendulums, so take what resonates and leave what doesn't.
Keep Your Pendulum Cleansed
One of the most important things I do is cleanse my pendulums regularly.
I carry one of my pendulums with me almost everywhere I go. Inside her pouch is a small Satin Spar heart, and at night she rests in a Satin Spar bowl.
Whether you choose Satin Spar, Selenite, moonlight, or another cleansing method, keeping your pendulum energetically refreshed can help maintain a clear connection.
Give Your Pendulum a Name
This may sound unusual to some people, but I like to name my pendulums.
For me, it helps create a stronger bond and makes them feel like trusted companions on my spiritual journey.
My main pendulum is Penelope (Pen or Penny for short), while the others are Spirit, Ghost, Shiver, and Newt. Each of those names was approved by the pendulums themselves!
Ground Yourself Before Every Session
Before working with any pendulum, I always take a moment to ground myself.
Even a quick grounding exercise can help you feel centred and focused.
My favourite method is imagining roots growing from my feet deep into the earth, anchoring me securely to the ground. Sometimes I pair this with a short meditation before beginning a session.
Establish Your Yes, No, Maybe, and Unsure Responses
Whenever I start working with a new pendulum, I ask it to show me:
Yes
No
Maybe
Unsure
Even if you've worked with a pendulum for a while, it's a good idea to check these responses occasionally.
Interestingly, my pendulums respond differently from what is commonly shown online, which is why I always recommend checking rather than assuming.
Ask for Truth and Guidance
Before beginning, I like to ask my pendulum to provide answers that are truthful and for my highest good.
I often add:
"Even if the truth may be difficult to hear."
This helps me approach each session with honesty and openness.
Be Clear About Who You Want to Connect With
If you work with spiritual guidance, it's important to clearly state who you wish to connect with.
For example, you may wish to communicate with:
Your higher self
Spirit guides
Ancestors
A specific spiritual guide
Setting your intention clearly helps create a focused session.
Pendulums Can Have Different Specialties
One of the most fascinating things I've discovered is that different pendulums seem to enjoy different types of questions.
Penelope is my all-rounder but generally prefers answering questions about me.
Spirit specialises in matters of love.
Ghost enjoys questions connected to the heart and emotions.
Shiver is drawn to new beginnings and fresh opportunities.
Newt is the youngest member of the family and is still discovering his strengths.
Sometimes you can even make an educated guess based on the crystal itself.
Spirit is made from Rose Quartz, so I suspected she might enjoy love-related questions. When I asked, "Do you specialise in love questions?"
The response was a very enthusiastic yes!
Final Thoughts
Working with crystal pendulums has been a fascinating and rewarding part of my spiritual journey. Over time, you'll discover your own routines, preferences, and methods that feel right for you.
Remember that there is no single "correct" way to work with a pendulum. Trust your intuition, stay grounded, and enjoy the experience.
I hope some of these tips have resonated with you and help you on your own pendulum journey.
